In the Shivering Isles expansion, the Hero ends up in Sheogorath's realm in Oblivion, where he learns about the Daedric Prince's past. In the Knights of the Nine expansion, the Hero learns about the titular faction, that wants to obtain certain relics that can stop Umaril, a man who seeks revenge on the Nine Divines. Before his death, however, Uriel gives an Amulet of Kings to the player character, who is asked to stop the realm of Oblivion from taking over Tamriel. In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Tom Cruise Uriel Septim VII is assassinated by the Mythic Dawn. I felt like Kefka from FFVI.Released in JP: July 26, 2007 (Windows/Xbox 360), September 27, 2007 (PS3) They instantly filled up 6 of my petty soul gems and I walked away without a scratch. I found a pack of 6 rats all huddled together, so I cast mass soultrap and mass absorb health. I've been jumping and levitating around the world looking for swarms and crowds of things to kill. My health is always being fed by the multiple absorb health effects going on at once, so the more enemies, the better. I'm easily killed in two hits by most things if they can get near me, but I have spells that damage strength, burden and paralyze so I mostly just hover over them and rain blood leeches down until they're dead. I create massive clouds of lingering cold damage for 30 secs, giant soultrap fields and 30 second absorb health spells. I'm playing through on a Breton Wizard right now and it's so fascinating. Mages are the apex, as far as I'm concerned.

But there are a lot of fun quests for the Thieves Guild, House Hlaalu and Morag Tong and Illusion spells really make it interesting with paralyze, charm, invisibility and calm humanoid. You have to break your sneak skill past 100 to even have a chance. Thieves are more fun but some of the sneak systems are frustrating and pickpocketing might as well not exist. It'll be like sitting through the entire Star Wars Holiday Special. I'm considering playing through strictly without any magic whatsoever, just to see what it's like. It's like being Kain from FFIV! My next character is going to be an Orc or Dark Elf axe barbarian. I recently made an Argonian Dragoon who takes advantage of the Spear skill as well as the Jump and Levitate spells. Warriors in Guild Wars and other games can cast spells that enhance your fighting ability, so you may want to check out restore fatigue, fortify stength, speed, agility and endurance.

You deserve such a better experience but you can probably resort to mods for that. I just feel bad for warriors in Morrowind. It's all much more intuitive, at least in my opinion. Other than that, some spells have been streamlined and slimmed down. Instead of affecting the casting chance, magic skills now affect the magicka cost of spells, but you still can't cast better spells until you level up your skill to the required level. Spells work reliably, with a set magnitude and a 100% chance of casting. I liked the system in Oblivion much more. This makes spells more unpredictable and unreliable, especially in situations where you really need them. For example, you can get a spell which heals you for anywhere between 20 and 80 health. The one thing that really frustrated me was the fact that for most spells, the magnitude of the effect varies. It does make the combat harder, but at the end of the day, all it means for me is that I'm going to spend more time resting out of combat to recharge it, and chugging potions when I'm in combat. I also don't like that magicka doesn't regenerate by itself (I used the Fair Magicka Regen mod, if I recall correctly).

I'm not a big fan of the dicerolls, especially because your magicka gets eaten up whether or not the spell was successful. Originally posted by Pypar:Why don't you like the magic system? There are a few reasons.
